Celebrating Gay Pride at Cannon Beach, OR in 2023

Gay Couple at Cannon Beach

Cannon Beach, OR is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike, known for its scenic views, charming shops, and friendly atmosphere. But in June 2023, the town will also be hosting its first ever Gay Pride festival, a celebration of diversity, inclusion, and love. 🌈

The festival is organized by the Cannon Beach LGBTQ+ Alliance, a group of local residents and business owners who want to create a welcoming and supportive community for everyone. The group was inspired by the success of other pride events in nearby cities like Portland and Astoria, and decided to bring the spirit of pride to their own town.

The festival will take place from June 23 to June 25, 2023, and will feature a variety of activities and events for all ages and interests. Some of the highlights include:

  • A rainbow flag raising ceremony at City Hall on June 23, followed by a reception with live music and refreshments.
  • A pride parade along Hemlock Street on June 24, starting at 10 a.m. and ending at the beach. The parade will feature floats, bands, dancers, and community groups, as well as some special guests and celebrities.
  • A beach party on June 24, from noon to 6 p.m., with DJs, performers, games, food trucks, and vendors. The party will also have a designated family-friendly area with activities for kids and parents.
  • A candlelight vigil on June 24, at 8 p.m., to honor the victims and survivors of hate crimes and violence against the LGBTQ+ community. The vigil will be held at the Haystack Rock viewpoint, where participants can light candles and share their stories and messages of hope.
  • A brunch and bingo fundraiser on June 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Cannon Beach Community Hall. The event will feature delicious food, prizes, and entertainment by local drag queens and kings.
  • A movie night on June 25, at 7 p.m., at the Coaster Theatre Playhouse. The event will screen a selection of LGBTQ+ themed films, documentaries, and shorts, followed by a Q&A session with some of the filmmakers and actors.

The festival is open to everyone who wants to join the celebration of love and diversity. Tickets are available online or at the door for each event, and proceeds will go to support the Cannon Beach LGBTQ+ Alliance and other local charities.
