Halloween night on Capitol Hill is never short on energy, but this year, Julia’s on Broadway is turning up the heat with Costumes & Cocktails, a celebration of music, movement, and unapologetic queer joy presented by Pacific Northwest Black Pride. The party promises more than tricks and treats — expect fierce looks, $100 costume prizes, and a high-octane live performance from Caribbean-American artist Jay Saint.
“It’s my first time in Seattle, so I’m incredibly excited,” Jay says. “I’ve always wanted to collaborate with Mike for Black Pride events. Doing that on Halloween, one of my favorite holidays, is really special. You can definitely expect a high-energy, engaging show.”
Born in Brooklyn to Dominican and Haitian parents, Jay Saint’s story is one of hustle and evolution. He began his career as a songwriter with Bad Boy Entertainment, writing behind the scenes before carving his own lane as a queer independent artist. “After I got dropped in 2009, I leveraged all the connections I made and started building my own thing,” he explains. “Now I’m proud to represent the queer community through my music.”
That music — an infectious blend of R&B, pop, and island rhythm — reflects his influences: Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Bob Marley. “Stevie and Bob are my two biggest inspirations,” Jay says. “Their artistry and soul taught me how to connect deeper — and I carry that in every performance.”
At Julia’s, Jay will perform his latest hit “Pull Up” along with a sneak peek of “Can’t Stay Mad,” a new single set to debut with a music video at the end of November. Fans can also look forward to his upcoming EP, dropping January 23, 2026.
Beyond the music, Jay is intentional about community. “To survive in this climate, you have to stay grounded and know your tribe,” he says. “When we move together, shoulder to shoulder, that’s when we’re powerful.”
Costumes & Cocktails is shaping up to be the perfect mix of glam, grit, and good vibes — with DJ Cheri Amour spinning the hottest hip-hop and R&B all night long, and cash prizes for the Scariest, Sexiest, and Best Couple-Themed Costumes.
So, grab your best look, gather your crew, and join Pacific Northwest Black Pride for a night where the spirits are high, the beats are bold, and the cocktails are killer.
