Jane Lynch & Kate Flannery Bring The Trouble with Angels to Edmonds-Preview

Some performers entertain audiences. Jane Lynch and Kate Flannery invite them into the conversation.

On August 27, the Emmy Award-winning Glee star and The Office favorite will bring their acclaimed cabaret show, The Trouble with Angels, to the Edmonds Center for the Arts, promising an evening filled with music, comedy, storytelling, and the effortless chemistry that comes from decades of friendship.

During a recent conversation with Lynch, she described the show as a celebration of the music she and Flannery have loved for years, particularly songs from the mid-1960s. The title pays tribute to the classic 1966 film The Trouble with Angels, although Lynch joked that the connection ends there. “We’re both Catholic girls who tend to get into trouble,” she laughed.

That playful spirit is at the heart of the performance. Audiences can expect classic songs, hilarious stories, and the kind of spontaneous moments that only happen when two longtime friends share the stage. Lynch describes Flannery as “a little hummingbird,” while calling herself the grounded homebody who tries to keep things on track—though she admits the show often goes delightfully off the rails.

Beyond the laughs, the evening offers a chance to see two accomplished performers at their most authentic. Lynch, whose career spans Broadway, Christopher Guest films, Glee, Only Murders in the Building, and The Weakest Link, says the live show is one of her favorite creative outlets because it allows audiences to experience genuine friendship through music and conversation.

Fans can expect more than a concert. The Trouble with Angels is a warm, funny, and heartfelt evening built on impeccable musicianship, improvisation, and the undeniable bond between two performers who genuinely enjoy making each other—and their audiences—laugh. Whether you’re a fan of Glee, The Office, classic cabaret, or simply great storytelling, this one-night-only performance promises an unforgettable night at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.
